Security to storm scraps dealers on vandalized road signs

Gulu City council has directed security to storm scrap dealers and do investigations to ascertain whether the road signs being vandalized in Gulu city are being taken to the dealers as scrap.

Akena Lamex Lambert, the speaker for Gulu City council made this statement during a full council meeting that took place yesterday, stating that it is a very bad practice that people want to sell every metal they see surrounding them, not minding about the importance or the owner of the metal they come across.

Akena consequently tasked security to take full charge because every effort they have made to curb the practice by the public have failed, they now have to face the law and learn the hard way.

The secretary works and technical services for Gulu City, Akena Patrick confirms that the vandalism doesn’t only stop on the metals around the city, they also go as far as stealing parts of the solar lights and destroying them, he adds that at Walter Opwonya Road, the solar lights have mostly been tampered with.

Wilbert Opiyo, the assistant Resident City Commissioner for Laroo Pece, asks the public to be calm and law abiding, avoiding destruction of public equipment, he however warned that if caught, the culprits will face the law.
