Police in Nakapiripirit District have arrested two more female suspects in connection with the mob killing of a police constable attached to Namalu Police Station.
Richard Nokrach was killed on 26th May 2026 after knocking and injuring an elder at Nalait Trading Centre.
The incident occurred in the evening as he was returning from Moru Ajore Checkpoint to the station.
Two suspects were initially arrested in the aftermath. Following a fresh operation led by Kakembo Kassim, Officer-in-Charge of Namalu Police Station, and personnel from ASTU, 30 people were picked up from Nalait B Village in Kawach Sub-County for interrogation.
After screening and recording statements, two more individuals were identified as prime suspects.
Mt Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson, Mike Longole, confirms the arrests, saying the two women joined the two suspects already in custody. The others in custody are Lochuge Jacob and Lazarus Abura, bringing the total number of suspects to four.
A postmortem examination on the deceased officer was conducted at Mbale City Mortuary.
Longole says operations are ongoing to trace and arrest the two remaining suspects linked to the murder.
