
A total of 111 people have been deported to their countries from the borders at the west Nile region due to the outbreak of Ebola disease.
SSP Josephine Angucia, the West Nile region Police Spokesperson says 15 Congolese were deported on Friday to Democratic Republic of Congo through Vurra boarder post in Arua district, 11 people were intercepted at Pakwach, four were intercepted at Bondo check point, two at Ocoko check point in Arua district meanwhile in Pakwach district.
59 Congolese have also been intercepted with various transport means and deported via Dei, Goli and Vurra border posts from 2nd to 12th of this month.
In Nebbi district, 20 Congolese nationals who sneaked into Uganda illegally were deported back to Congo.
Angucia advises the boarder communities to ensure vigilance on illegal entries and report to the nearest authority for quick management.
West Nile region has currently stepped up operations to enforce Ebola standard operating procedures in order to prevent its spread into the country.
