
37 schools have reported for the 24th edition of the national health training institutions championship games 2026 being hosted by Gulu College of Health Sciences from the 3rd to the 7th of this month.
Sam Odongo, the assistant commissioner of sports says participants will compete in nine sports disciplines which are; athletics, bad minton, wood ball, mind games, volleyball, football, netball, handball and basketball.
Odongo says the teams arrived on Saturday and Sunday.
According to Odongo, an average attendance of 70% has already been registered and the discipline level of the students is good.
Jane Babalanda, the Principal of Gulu College of Health Sciences says there are 853 girls and 1,069 boys participating this year.
Babalanda says although the activities began yesterday, the official opening of the games will take place tomorrow while the closing ceremony will be on Friday.
