Awach NRM Office Reopens

The National Resistance Movement office in Awach, Gulu district which was previously closed over corruption and misuse allegations has finally been reopened as District Executive Committee members pursue unity in order to better serve the people of Gulu District.

The reopening follows a meeting attended by representatives from the Office of the NRM Secretary General who visited to establish why the office had been closed.

Ocen Chris, the NRM Chairperson for Gulu District says members have resolved to set aside their grievances and work together in order to lift up the party.

He says there is need for joining hands in order to ensure that the National Resistance Movement dominates in Gulu District as opposed to fighting each other.

Ayella Andrew, the Workers’ League Chairperson for Gulu District says some issues remain unresolved.

He says members are waiting for feedback from the Office of the Secretary General on the next steps.

Members of the District Executive Committee locked the party’s office in Awach over last week alleged misuse of government property and the failure of leadership to account to party members.
