

Gulu City officials have stopped the fencing of the Regional Animal Diseases Diagnostic Center by Gulu district.
The animal lab located at the district’s old production department was constructed at 200 million shillings by government through the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) and commissioned in July last year.
The fencing work which was contracted to Punena General Traders at 18.6 million shillings to be done before the end of this financial year, has however been stopped by the City officials who insist that Gulu district should go and settle at their new district headquarters in Awach Sub county.
Michael Komakech, the district secretary for Production and marketing confirms the report.
Peter Banya, the Gulu Resident City Commissioner in charge Laroo-Pece Division says Gulu district should focus on constructing the new production department at Awach as they wait for central government to issue guidelines on asset sharing with the City.
Gulu district is in the process of constructing a new production department at Awach Sub County where they are expected to relocate to.
