The management of Pakwach Health Centre IV has relocated operations from its old site in Lubiri B Cell to a new location in Kapita Cell along Wadelai Road, near the Pakwach District Headquarters.
In a circular issued by the Health Unit Management Committee dated April 27, 2026, it was confirmed that all services have officially been transferred to the new facility.
The Committee Chairperson, Santo Ogena, says the relocation follows approval by the District Council and directives from the Ministry of Health and the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).
He notes that it was established that 30 percent of the old facility land lies within a protected buffer zone, while several structures had become dilapidated, posing risks to both patients and staff.
The decision was earlier approved by the District Council during a sitting on March 31, after the Leader of Government Business, Pastore Gidaga, raised concerns over the poor state of the old facility and government reports discouraging any further construction at the site.
Councillors unanimously approved the motion, saying the relocation was “long overdue.”
The facility in charge, John Bosco Oryema, says the relocation is timely, but notes that the new site is already facing congestion as it struggles to accommodate both existing and newly referred patients.
