Deputy RCC Condemns Illegal eviction of residents in Bardege-Layibi division

Amir Kamba, the deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Bardege-Layibi division, has condemned the recent illegal demolition of houses by a section of security personnel and unidentified people which occurred from Wii-Layibi Village in Bardege-Layibi division

On Tuesday, a section of security personnel allegedly destroyed over 12 houses in Wii-Layibi, Bardege-Layibi division leaving over 200 people homeless

Amir says this act of illegality was not sanctioned by the City Security Committee and it was done without the knowledge of his office.

He urges all court bailiffs and security personnel to follow the law when carrying out any eviction.

Faith Apio, a victim says security personnel came to their area, destroyed their homes and ordered them to leave.

Apio adds that those who were being evicted were not given ample time and security personnel were arresting anyone who was taking photos at the site.

President Museveni in the past has directed that no land eviction can take place in any district without the explicit consent of the District Security Committee (DSC), which is chaired by the Resident District Commissioner (RDC), and direct consultation with the Minister of Lands.

This applies to all evictions, even those backed by court orders.
