A total of 160 million shillings was disbursed to Emyooga SACCO groups in Gulu city in the last financial year.
George Nicholas Kidega, the Gulu City Principal Commercial Officer says eight Emyooga SACCO groups received 20 million shillings each.
Kidega says that the funds were disbursed to Restaurant owners SACCO, veterans SACCO, Laroo-Pece Market vendors SACCO and Produce dealers SACCO among others.
Emyooga is a presidential initiative launched in August 2019 to promote wealth creation, job creation, and financial inclusion.
The initiative supports 18 specialized enterprise categories like tailors, market vendors, and boda-boda riders through SACCOs.
