Ballington Pa Ongwech, the Secretary for works and technical services at Gulu District Local Government says the district has requested for 110.6 million shillings from the Ministry of Education and Sports for the acquisition of a transformer for Patiko Seed Secondary School.
Ongwech says that a transformer installed at the school during construction belongs to the contractor, Shine Africa company who now wants to take it away.
However, the school needs the transformer to run some of its facilities including a newly constructed computer laboratory.
Students are expected to occupy the new infrastructure in the second term as construction work is currently at 98 % completed.
The infrastructure worth 2.3 billion shillings, a loan from the World Bank include two science laboratories, an ICT laboratory, a modern school library and six classrooms across two blocks.
Others are a main hall, a football pitch, three staff houses, a staff room and store, offices for the Headteacher, Bursar, and Deputy Headteacher, two kitchens, five-stance latrines for both boys and girls.
