Five Suspects Held Over Boda Boda Rider Murder in Hoima City

Five suspects are in custody at Hoima City Central Police Station over the alleged murder of a boda boda rider.

The suspects have been identified as 29-year-old Albert Nabasa, Abdulkarim Kagabo, 21-year-old Simon Kirabo, 36 year old Muhammad Mbalibura , and 30 year old Bright Kalule , all residents of Hoima City.

They are accused of killing Ismail Mutebi, a boda boda rider.

It is alleged that the suspects, together with others still at large, hired Ismail Mutebi on the night of March 30, 2026, to transport them to Kasasa in Hoima West Division and that along the way, they reportedly turned and attacked him with machetes.

They allegedly hacked the victim on the head, neck, and face, leading to his death, before they took off with his Bajaj motorcycle (registration number UAZ 993J) and a mobile phone.

After the killing, the suspects allegedly dumped Mutebi’s body by the roadside and fled, where it was later discovered by residents, who alerted the police to act.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region Police spokesperson, told Favour FM in an interview that flying squad detectives were deployed to track down the suspects.

He confirms that five of them have since been arrested and are currently in custody, adding that they are cooperating with investigators.

Hakiza notes that once investigations are complete, the suspects will be arraigned in court and charged with murder and robbery.
