The girls at Ogul primary school located in Ogul village, Unyama sub county in Gulu district have blamed parents for school dropout.
This was during a meeting held on 4th August 2026 by the subcounty, teachers and development partners aimed at digging reasons why there is a lot of school dropout.
Speaking to favor FM, the Lc3 chairman for Unyama sub county, Justine Kidega when giving a feedback of the meeting said that the girls reported that their parents don’t provide the requirements that are needed at school like books, pens and also sanitary wears for them yet they have the money to drink and spend on other things.

According to Kidega, the girls also reported that when they complain, the parents tell them that there is no money and that the girls are old enough to marry hence they feel abandoned and begin to wander around the centers which leads to school dropout in many ways like getting pregnant and peer pressure among others.
Kidega reportes that the parents however defended themselves that they normally give up on the children because the children don’t listen, all they do is move from one place to another during both day and night doing nonsense.
Kidega advises that children are a shared responsibility for all community members, as the sub county struggles that they stay at school, the parents should also see to it that the children have everything they need to stay at school.
