Gulu City is set to host elections of the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA).
The elections for both district and national level are slated for this Saturday at the Gulu City Health Boardroom, according to Mildred Auma, the Gulu City Communication Officer.
Auma says the elections will bring together delegates from both government and private secondary schools with each school expected to send a head teacher and sports officer to participate in the electoral process.
Delegates will elect a nine-member executive committee that includes the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, General Secretary, Treasurer and other executive members.
Auma says the committee will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing secondary school sports activities in Gulu City in accordance with the National Sports Act, 2022, on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Sports.
Meanwhile, the annual Gulu City Scouts Camp officially began today with reporting at the camp site located in the forested area between Gulu High School and Mama Kev Primary School.
Auma says the official opening ceremony is scheduled for tomorrow while the camp will conclude on Saturday with a closing ceremony recognizing participants and outstanding achievements.
