Kitgum Emyooga SACCOs Receive Fresh Seed Capital to Spur Growth

Twenty-six Emyooga SACCO groups in Kitgum District have received Shs 20 million each in additional seed capital.

Walter Komakech Oyo, the Kitgum Deputy Resident District Commissioner met with leaders of all 54 Emyooga SACCOs at the Kitgum District Council Hall on Monday.

Komakech says the 26 SACCOs that received the top-up were selected based on performance and compliance.

He names Kitgum Municipal Tailoring Emyooga SACCO, Kitgum Municipal Performing Artists Emyooga SACCO, and Kitgum Veterans Emyooga SACCO among the beneficiaries.

Emyooga is a government wealth-creation program under the Ministry of Finance.

It targets Ugandans in similar occupations to form SACCOs to provide affordable capital, encourage savings, and support small businesses at parish level to fight household poverty.

Beneficiaries include boda boda riders, tailors, market vendors, carpenters, performing artists, and veterans.
