Gulu City Warns Against Dumping Waste in Drainage Channels

Gulu City has sounded a strong warning to the hotel owners and members of the public who pour water, food remains and any other rubbish in the drainages through broken slabs to stop with immediate effect.

Mildred Auma, the Gulu City communications officer says it is improper for grown up people to be pouring rubbish and water through broken slabs.

Auma says it’s everyone’s responsibility to maintain infrastructure within the areas they live in and to report any one they see doing the opposite of what is expected of them.

According to Auma, the rainy season is knocking and if the behavior of blocking the drainages continues then most areas of the city will flood.

Auma urges everyone to act responsibly for a better Gulu City.

She notes that the city is aware of the open slabs and is planning to repair them in a phased manner.
