Peter Banya, the Gulu Resident City Commissioner in charge Laroo-Pece division, has directed for the withdrawal of the controversial cattle restocking form that was being used for identifying and registering beneficiaries.
The form which has a section where potential beneficiaries declare acknowledging receipt of the money, generated a lot of concern from members of the public since fund disbursement has not yet started.
During a meeting with Town Agents and other City officials held yesterday morning at the City health Boardroom, Banya directed Town Agents to collect all the forms from the community and take them to the office of the Town Clerk.
He says they will consult the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) to provide
another form for identifying beneficiaries while the initial form will be used when beneficiaries eventually receive the funds.
He explains that the 21 beneficiaries selected per parish will however be
considered to avoid delaying the process.
The 21 beneficiaries are composed of the elderly, persons with disability, widows, widowers, orphans, former abductees, female headed households, unskilled and unemployed youth.
A total of 80 billion shillings has been earmarked by Government for the
restocking program in Acholi, Lango and Teso sub regions.
Each household is set to receive five million shillings for purchasing two cows and two oxen.
