The National Identification and Registration Authority has called for cooperation from the members of the public ahead of their mobile issuance of national identity cards.
Ismael Semanda, the registration officer for Gulu office says that for matters of convenience and ensuring that everyone accesses their national ID, they are planning to enroll a mobile issuance method to the public.
Semanda says that currently they are issuing the cards from their office only but the mobile issuance activity will bring the cards nearer to the people and even the old, sick among other vulnerable groups will be able to access their cards at convenience.
Hu urges the public to cooperate with their team who will take the cards closer to the people and come in large numbers to pick their cards.
He adds that the cards from the City will be displayed in a public place preferably Kaunda grounds and cards for the district at the different sub counties.
According to Semanda, 80% of the cards that were renewed are already available only waiting to be picked up by the respective owners.
Reports from the NIRA registration office indicate that at least 500 people visit NIRA office on a daily basis to collect their identity cards.
