The leaders and parents of Bungatira central primary school located in Laroo-Pece division, Gulu City have trashed the school audit report that was conducted early last year.
During a meeting meant to release the audit report findings to parents on Friday last week, Nyeko Walter Atiko, the chairperson school management committee (SMC) stated that 39 million shillings was misused in the school.
Atiko says the audit was conducted to clean the record books of the school adding that his team should not inherit problems from the former team.
Vincent Onung, a parent and former SMC member of the school wonders how 39million shillings could be misused in the school yet the school is limping in terms of finance.
Onung says most parents don’t even complete school fees payment and the school is surviving on a very small amount of money.
Solomon Rackara, the Councilor IV in charge of Twonokun ward who also doubles as the deputy speaker for Laroo-Pece division says the SMC made a mistake of calling for an audit and hiring a private auditor at 1.5million shillings to audit the school accounts under the pretense of training teachers of the school.
Rackara says an internal auditor of the City should have been the one to conduct the audit and its findings taken to the City Clerk for advice.
Ocaya Denis Deogratious, the secretary education for Laroo-Pece division advises that a proper meeting be arranged with teachers, SMC, PTA and all education stakeholders to discuss the audit report for the betterment of the school rather than pointing fingers at each other.
Bungatira central primary school has 724 pupils.
