Stamps withdrawn from L.C1 chairpersons in Bardege-Layibi division

Authorities in Bardege-Layibi Division in Gulu City have withdrawn stamps from all former Local Council One (LC1) chairpersons including those who retained their seats during the recently concluded elections.

Kamba Amir, the deputy Resident City Commissioner in charge Bardege-Layibi division says all chairpersons were instructed to hand over the stamps before the end of yesterday to the division town clerk.

Kamba says the stamps will be returned to the chairpersons after an induction meeting scheduled to take place next week.

He explains that the induction is important in helping the chairpersons know their roles.

Several Local Council officials have previously been arrested and jailed due to failure to correctly perform their roles as a result of ignorance of the law.

Bardege-Layibi division has a total of 50 cells.
