Hope for Agung Village as First Health Centre Is Built

A health care space has for the first time has been built in Agung village, Unyama Sub County in Gulu district with support from Path to Empowerment Ministries, a Non-Governmental Organization that supports education, health and clean water.

Justine Kidega, the LC III Chairperson of Unyama Sub County says the organization realized the huge gap in Agung which lacks a nearby health facility.

Kidega says residents always seek for treatment at either Punena Health Center II, Bungatira Sub County or Angaya Health Center III in Unyama Sub County, a journey of about 10-15km which becomes very tricky during emergency cases.

He says the health space is being constructed with an aim that the government will supply health supplies and upgrade it in the near future,

According to Kidega the health space is a block of three rooms, a waiting area and a three stance latrine which will all be completed in two months.

Then land was provide by the community.

Kidega also expects government to take over the facility in the near future.

Acayo Grace, a resident of Agung village says the health space will provide relief to women who have been moving long distance in the search for treatment at distant health facilities.
