Residents across Lamwo District are looking to the newly constituted district council leadership with renewed hope for improved services and accountability.
The optimism follows the approval of a new District Executive Committee and the election of chairpersons for key standing committees responsible for overseeing health, education, agriculture, roads, and public finances.
For many residents, the changes are less about political positions and more about addressing everyday challenges while communities continue to struggle with poor road networks, limited access to healthcare, and the need for better support for farmers.
During council proceedings, debate emerged over the nomination of District Vice Chairperson David Odongmadiki, reflecting growing demands among councillors for stronger accountability from leaders and despite the disagreements, councillors approved the nomination and endorsed the new executive team.
District Chairperson Oyet Sisto Ocen has called on the new leaders to work together and focus on service delivery.
Residents now say they will be closely watching whether the new council leadership can translate promises into tangible improvements in their communities.
