
Two Parish Development Committee (PDC) members have been arrested in Lira City for allegedly mismanaging cattle restocking funds.
The suspects are Simon Peter Okello, the chairperson of the parish development committee and Moses Achalo, the town agent Railways quarters.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga police spokesperson says that the pair was arrested after two non-residents benefitted from the cattle restocking funds.
The beneficiaries, Rose Amolo 97, was indicated as a resident of Railway Quarters A cell and Alice Achola, 84 who was also indicated as a resident of Railway Quarters B. Both received 5 million shillings.
Okema says that the town agent and PDC chairperson were arrested on Friday after they failed to trace the where about and forms of the two old women.
In a similar development, the town Agent of Ongicha ward in Lira city, Sharon Omodi has been arrested for replacing a recommended cattle beneficiary’s name with that of her sister.
