Police in Nakapiripirit District have arrested a 40-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife following a domestic dispute at Moruita Trading Centre.
The suspect, Robert Lomer, is accused of killing his wife, 36-year-old Keren Lokoru, during a physical altercation stemming from a family disagreement.
According to police, the incident occurred on April 15 at approximately 7:00 p.m., when the couple’s quarrel escalated into a fight.
It is alleged that Lomer later confined Lokoru in their house and denied her access to medical treatment.
Yesterday morning, concerned neighbours intervened and compelled the suspect to take the victim for medical attention.
She was rushed to Moruita Brigade Health Centre III but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Mike Longole, the Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson, confirms the incident, stating that a murder case has been registered at Moruita Police Station.
A postmortem has been conducted, and the body handed over to the family for burial.
Longole urges members of the public to report domestic disputes to authorities or local leaders before they escalate.
According to the 2025 Police Annual Crime Report, Uganda recorded 208 murder cases linked to domestic violence, up from 183 cases in 2024, representing a 13.7% increase.
The victims included 89 adult males, 92 adult females, 14 male juveniles, and 13 female juveniles.
