39 year old Rubangakene Innocent has been murdered from Olailong, Bardege Layibi division in Gulu City during today early morning hours.
David Ongom Mudong, the Aswa West Police Spokesperson says Rubangakene and other accomplices allegedly broke into a house at Zida cell in Laroo-Pece division and attempted to pluck a TV screen from the wall.
The house’s occupants were notified when the TV fell down which led to Rubangakene’s arrest while his colleagues escaped.
Mudong says Rubangakene was then assaulted to death in Olailong while taking the mob to the homes of his colleagues.
He adds that a knife, pliers and screwdriver were recovered from the deceased, equipment which were allegedly being used for breaking into houses.
Mudong says much as the deceased was already arrested, he could have been handed over to the police such that other investigations continue.
He warns that those that carried out the mob justice will be charged according to the law once arrested.
