Mothers stranded at Labworomor Health Center II

Mothers who had sought delivery and antenatal care services have been stranded today morning at Labworomor Health Center II located in Palaro Sub County, Gulu district due to the absence of a midwife.

Komakech Michael, the male councilor V for Palaro Sub County says he received calls from the community that every case at the maternity section was being referred to elsewhere which is so disappointing.

Komakech says communities that travel for medical treatment deserve to be helped as opposed to being referred elsewhere because their homes are at times far away.

Dr Kenneth Cana, the acting District Health Officer for Gulu District says Labworomor Health Center II has only one midwife who has been sent to Awach Health Center IV for training.

Cana warns that the issue of assigning health workers to attend training without a substitute should stop.

He further adds that health workers on duty should not go anywhere for any reason without a substitute.
