Nwoya’s Murchison Falls Coffee Lodge Redefines Hospitality with Coffee Tourism

Murchison Falls Coffee Lodge in Purongo, Nwoya district, a hospitality company is blending tourism and coffee to enhance experiences of its clients.

Tourism and coffee are Uganda’s top revenue earners with coffee ranking in 8.2 Trillion shillings in exports while tourism earned 6.1 trillion shillings in 2025.

Murchison Falls Coffee lodge which is located along the wankwa gate, five kilometers away from the game park has planted eight acres of coffee including 5 acres of arabica and 3 acres of robusta.

Faith Asio Abwang, the resident manager says they intend to give their clients a garden to cup experience of coffee.

Asio says they intend to plant sunflowers around the coffee garden to keep away the marauding elephants.

Research by conservationists shows that despite their thick skin, elephants are terrified of being stung by honey bees because they have highly sensitive areas like their eyes, trunks, and behind their ears.
