
Omoro district local government has approved a budget estimate of 39.9 billion shillings for the 2026/2027 financial year.
The budget which was presented by Stephen Opiyo Lanek, the finance secretary during a full council meeting at Omoro district headquarters on Friday is 10.5% bigger than the budget for 2025/2026 financial year which stood at 35.7 %.
The new budget allocates the largest funding to education at 18.5 billion, health at 7.1 billion shillings and administration at 2.3 billion shillings.
Lanek says only 623.3 million shillings of locally raised revenue will fund the budget.
Other sources of funding include discretionary grants at 5.3 billion shillings, conditional government transfers of 32.3 billion shillings, other government transfers at 821.7million shillings.
