Omoro to benefit from a Multi-billion shillings Water Laboratory

Government through the Ministry of Water and Environment is set to construct a state-of the Art Water Quality Monitoring and Management Laboratory in Kalam-Omiya west Village, Bobi Sub County in Omoro district at a cost of 7.3 billion shillings.

Alfred Okot Okidi, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Water applauds Omoro district for donating the land where the Laboratory will be constructed.

Okidi says the facility will help to enhance service delivery in addition to help in facilitating the repair of various water infrastructure in the district.

He adds that the construction of the project will take 12 months and it will be funded by Government of Uganda, European Commission and the German Government through KFW.

Okidi says the building will also house the regional offices for National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) in Northern Uganda adding that they intend to ask Omoro district to add them more land for expansion

Okot Andrew, the Omoro District LCV Chairperson urges the Ministry of Water to provide piped water and improve on sanitation and facilities in schools and Town Councils in Omoro district.

The facility will be constructed by Zhonghao Overseas Construction Company Limited.
