Police in Luwero District are investigating the death of an 11-year-old pupil who allegedly died after being beaten by his stepfather.
The deceased has been identified as Jeremiah Mayiga, a Kabukunga Primary School pupil in Kamira Sub-county, Luwero District who died after beatings on Tuesday at Kabukunga Village.
According to Joan Nalugo, the boy’s mother, she had left her children under the care of her husband, Nicholas Sekyanzi, about two weeks earlier while she attended to a sick relative.
On the day of the incident, Sekyanzi allegedly found the children playing and reportedly beat Mayiga with a stick until he became unconscious. The boy reportedly died while he was being rushed for medical treatment.
The suspect later allegedly told people that the child had fallen from a mango tree.
Sam Twineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, says police responded after receiving information about the incident and documented the scene.
