Soleterre Foundation Uganda, a charity organization that supports child and maternal health has donated an assortment of equipment to the pediatric unit of Gulu Regional Referral Hospital today.

The equipment includes infusion pumps, pulse oximeters, otoscopes, nebulizers, vein compressors, emergency rechargeable lamps, electric kettles, and electric kettles.

Others are patient monitors, oxygen concentrators, mechanical ventilators, BP machines for pediatrics, water dispensers, food trolleys, metallic flasks and notice boards.

Adrian Ssali, the country Director at Soleterre says the donation is part of support including infrastructure and maintenance being given to the hospital from the foundation with funds worth over 80,000 Euros (approximately 336 million Uganda shillings) from the Kucha foundation in Italy.

Dr Peter Mukhobi, the Senior Executive Consultant at Gulu Regional referral hospital says the support will enhance the hospital’s capacity to care for the critically ill and emergency care especially for the children.

Walter Uriekwun, the Principal Administrator at the hospital thanks the foundation for supplementing government’s efforts in providing health services.

He says availability of equipment is a motivation for staff to do their work well.
