Deputy Resident City Commissioner Peter Banya, has announced plans to demolish all buildings used as hideouts by criminals as part of a new drive to reduce crime in Gulu City.
Banya revealed the plan during a press conference on the state of the city and the ongoing trade order enforcement yesterday.
He says many criminals operate from dilapidated and abandoned structures across the city.
The Deputy City Commissioner appeals to residents to share information about suspected hideouts.
Kevin Aloyo, a resident of Pece-Laroo, commends the move. She says, Gulu City has many thugs and praises Banya for his commitment to fighting crime.
She also urges his office to work closely with Local Council One leaders for quick tracking of the culprits.
The announcement comes after authorities demolished at least seven video halls last week during trade order operations, citing links to criminal activity.
