Ministry Hands Over Solar-Powered Water Pumps to Enhance Farming in Gulu

Two water solar pumps have been handed over by the Ministry of water and Environment to Gulu district in order to boost agriculture.

Balingtone Olweny P’Ongwec, the secretary for works and technical services for Gulu district says the solar pumps are located in Rwotobilo, Bungatira Sub County and Paminmel village in Owoo Sub County.

Balingtone says the objective of the solar pump is to manage the unpredictable rain pattern and boost the level of production by farmers in Gulu district.

He further says that the pump supplies water to a minimum of seven acres of land which is quite a good capacity.

Balingtone urges the community to own the project and use it very well in order to change their livelihoods within a few years.

Each of the two sites costed 196 million shillings.
