Three Arrested Over Alleged PDM Funds Embezzlement in Lira City

Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson says three suspects have been arrested in Lira City West division for allegedly embezzling PDM funds.

According to Okema, preliminary findings indicate that some PDM executive members allegedly registered beneficiaries and permitted the use of National Identity Cards belonging to other individuals to fraudulently access PDM funds.

Okema says the suspects are; Oludi Richard, the Chairperson, Nankabirwa Ruth, the Secretary; and Tino Linda Auma, a member alleged to have used the National identity card of Apio Gloria to obtain UGX 1,000,000 under the programme.

Okema says the suspects are currently detained at Lira City West Division Headquarters as investigations continue and a case of embezzlement of PDM funds has been formally registered against them.

He adds that statements have been recorded from several complainants, including Apio Gloria, Opio Lakana, Akullu Molly, Kia Celinda, Apio Peace, Acen Harriet, Awor Lilly, and others.

According to Okema, court orders have been secured to access bank statements from Pride Microfinance Bank and DFCU Bank to facilitate the collection of further evidence.

Upon completion of investigations, the case file will be compiled and submitted to the Resident Chief State Attorney for scrutiny and legal guidance.
