URSB engages Acholi, Lango stakeholders on Non-Individual Entities register

Alex Anganya, the Deputy Registrar General at the Uganda Registration Service Bureau (URSB) says the establishment of the Non-Individual Register (NIR) is a significant step forward in streamlining how entities are identified, regulated, and supported.

URSB is currently in the process of establishing a centralized Register for all Non- Individual Entities such as companies, partnerships, cooperatives, NGOs, trade unions and collective investment groups.

Anganya was addressing stakeholders from Acholi and Lango sub regions at Bomah Hotel in Gulu City yesterday.

He says a unique Entity Registration Number (ERN) will be used to identify entities across all government platforms.

Anganya observes that for a long time, entities have been registered across multiple agencies, resulting in fragmented data, duplication, and inefficiencies.

In 2025, government through the Ministry of Finance amended the Tax Procedure Code Act which provided for the issuance of Entity Registration Number by URSB after being admitted onto the Non-Individual Register.

Peter Banya, the Gulu Resident City Commissioner (RCC) in charge of Laroo-Pece Division appreciates the initiative and urges the public to embrace it for it’s benefits such as easy access to credit.

The engagement was attended by Chief Administrative Officers, Commercial Officers, Community Development Officers, members of the Civil Society as well as the private sector players from Local Governments.
