Tom Oguta, the Lira District Labour Officer has expressed a concern that crime is likely to rise because of the ongoing implementation of the trade order across the country.
Oguta says the trade order implementation has left many business people jobless even after paying for a trading license.
Peter Banya, the Gulu Resident City Commissioner in charge Laroo-Pece Division says there will be long term benefits of the trade order such as security and more organized businesses.
Banya explains that traders have been aware that the trade order would eventually come into force as it was first mooted in 2023 but halted.
The trade order which started in March is expected to continue for another three months, covering cities and municipalities.
