Six Arrested in Lord’s Resistance Army Registration Scam

At least six former returnees have been arrested for the illegal registration of former Lord’s Resistance Army members who have returned home.

The arrests were made after a report reached the office of the Resident City Commissioner, prompting the operation.

In an interview, Peter Banya, the Deputy City Commissioner for Pece-Laroo, stated that no one is allowed to register names without clearance from the security office.

He adds that six suspects have already been taken to prison as investigations continue to establish who are those behind the registration exercise.

Stella Lanam, Director of War Victims and Children Networking, clarifies that those arrested were not part of the team she leads.

She urges victims to desist from such activities to avoid arrest.

She also appeals to the government to allocate funds to address trauma among victims, noting that many do not understand the consequences of their actions.

Kate Adong, a victim and former returnee, says some returnees are divided and only seeking personal gains.

She appeals to the government to find a solution to the problems facing victims to prevent further arrests.
